An OT fabricates anti-contracture splints to keep healing joints in the correct position, fits custom pressure garments to flatten and soften scars, performs scar massage and silicone application, retrains hand function and daily tasks, and provides desensitisation therapy for painful or hypersensitive skin. OT starts in the acute ward and continues through outpatient recovery.
