Active scar maturation takes 12 to 24 months. During this time, scars are still changing and respond to treatment. OT for burn scars runs 2 to 3 times weekly for the first 3 months, then weekly for another 3 to 6 months, then monthly until scar maturation completes. Pressure garments must be worn 23 hours a day for the best results.
